'Vierentwinig' is a project about 24 hours of life on the site. At any moment of the day, there is something to see or do. The market is central to the project. It creates a link between the Koninklijke Sint-Mariastraat and the site and is extended throughout the building. Not only the market itself but also the production and processing of the products sold at this market will take place on the site.
In order to ensure that the people come to the site, we will move the Pogge tram stop to our site.
We open up the façade that is located on the Rubensstraat. In this way, we make a connection between the street and the building.
The greenhouses are visible from the street. the people who work for and on the market will also have the opportunity to live on the site.
The outdoor space will be one big conservatory that can be partly opened up when the weather is good. There will also be an area inside the conservatory where people can eat, multicultural meals made with products from the market.
For the design, we make use of details that we noticed in the abandoned state. we then link a new structural function to it or not.
